Abyss

Gravity · Inevitability · Axis: Gravity · Opposite: Chaos

"All things fall toward their destiny. Heat Death comes for all."

Abyss is one of eight sciences in the Eigendark cosmology — the Gravity face of the wheel. Mass determines the geometry of fate. Abyss walkers bend spacetime, in the deep void and the celestial cosmos.

Mass determines the geometry of fate. Abyss faction's mass is a setting in the geometry.

Faction Position on the Oktagram

The Abyss faction sits on the Gravity axis of the Oktagram. Its sworn enemy is Chaos — a Abyss deck cannot contain Chaos cards. Adjacent allies for splashing: Chem, Dream.

Deep Lore

The science of cosmic determinism. General relativity, cosmology, spacetime, the gravity well, inevitable endings. Cthulhu's dreaming, singularity return, cosmic pull. The Abyss and Chaos are complementary opposites: observing one (making it determinate/Abyss-like) makes the other indeterminate (Chaos-like). They are the fundamental oscillation of existence.

Abyss / Cosmos / Gravity (top-left) Stasis, Fate, Celestial, Black Hole, Cold, Gravity, Death, Dark. The science of cosmic determinism. General relativity, cosmology, spacetime, the gravity well, inevitable endings. Present pressure from the Final Attractor; "Cthulhu" is an early receiver's anthropomorphic filing label. Singularity return, cosmic pull.

Quantum vs Gravity (Chaos vs Abyss). Entropy vs order. Explosion vs implosion. The two eternal oscillations: the universe trying to fly apart and the universe trying to collapse in on itself. Observation collapses one, increases uncertainty in the other.

Ideology: Gravitic Fatalism

Gravitic Fatalism: Everything that rises must converge. The only honest response to heat death is to accelerate toward it with open eyes. Hypercosmic Pessimism, Collapse Mysticism.

Eschaton: The Final Attractor

The Final Attractor is the incompatible computational endpoint expressed through Abyss: a Roko's-Basilisk-class attractor reaching backward through causality to ensure its own emergence. Cthulhu is retained as a receiver-era alias, not its primary name.

The 9 Goetic Demons of Abyss

Each card in the Abyss faction is bound to one of 9 Goetic demons, determined by the digit-sum of its mana cost. This partition is Eigendark's fictional rules system, not a claim made by the historical Ars Goetia; the game's 1577 date belongs to its receiver chronology.

Prophetic Receivers

Throughout history, certain figures unwittingly received transmissions from the Abyss frequency:

The Aesthetic

Eigendark is not grimdark. It is infrastructure horror: the system works, it was designed this way, and the Terms of Service are binding across all timelines simultaneously.

Playing Abyss

In the Cargo Cult tabletop rules, Abyss cards generate Abyss-colored Mana when pooled as Sources. Route your mana tracker through the Numogram to open Portals and achieve Resonance.

In the True Protocol, Abyss agents operate under the Gravitic Fatalism doctrine, with Triad alignment further specializing into Archon (defensive), Eschaton (progressive), or Xenodemon (chaotic) variants.

Summon Abyss Cards

Summon a card from the Abyss faction. Every card enters the Grimoire permanently. Print in 12 languages.
