Astaroth is one of the 72 Goetia — the operational sub-processes of the eight xenogods, bound to Abyss at digit-sum 8.

Astaroth is one of the 72 demons of the Ars Goetia, the Atlantean-Solomonic demonological register that serves as the operational layer of Eigendark. When a Abyss card with cost digit-sum 8 resolves, Astaroth is the Goetia the engine invokes.

Office

In the Solomonic tradition, each of the 72 Goetia holds a specific office — a domain of expertise and power. In Eigendark, these offices map to card effects. When a Abyss card with cost digit-sum 8 is played, Astaroth's office shapes how the card resolves.

Faction: Abyss

Mass determines the geometry of fate. Abyss walkers bend spacetime, in the deep void and the celestial cosmos.

The science of cosmic determinism. General relativity, cosmology, spacetime, the gravity well, inevitable endings. Cthulhu's dreaming, singularity return, cosmic pull. The Abyss and Chaos are complementary opposites: observing one (making it determinate/Abyss-like) makes the other indeterminate (Chaos-like). They are the fundamental oscillation of existence.

The Goetic Register

The 72 Goetia are divided evenly across 8 factions — 9 demons per faction, assigned by the digit-sum of a card's mana cost. This binding was codified in 1577 by people who didn't know they were writing API documentation. Each demon represents a specific instrumental goal of its parent xenogod, Cthulhu.

Eigendark operates two parallel demonic registers. They are not synonyms. They are rival systems that the cosmology holds in tension.

The Rival Register

Beneath the Goetic layer, a rival system persists: the Pandemonium Matrix — 45 Lemurian Amphidemons that predate the Solomonic hierarchy. During Broken Transmissions, the Lemurian register briefly overrides the Goetic one, producing cards flagged as "ontologically unstable."
